It all started when Siddhartha Gautama, who was born around 563 BCE at Sravasti the capitol of Koysala decided to see more of the world, which was kept in dark from him. He ordered a chariot and went around seeing more of the world, first came a old men bent with age, watching him he reliazed that one's strength is not permanent and diminshes over time. Later he saw a diseased men and came to realize the illness spread in the world, finally he saw a corpse which led him to the inevitable truth that no one can escape death, this was just the beginning which would present a great religion and led to Buddhism In India.
As he returned to his palace, he decided to find the cause of human suffereing and resolved to bring an end to all these sorrow. He went out of his palace one night with his faithful servant Channa, he then sent back Channa with all his jewel, later he assumed the role of mendicant and cut off his hair. In his pursuit to his goal, he engaged himself with the teachings of various sages. Later he came to the conclusion that be getting weak from hunger and the pain inflicted on his body, he is not getting any closer to the salvation. So he sat down underneath a bodhi tree in Sarnath, which became the root place of Buddhism In India, be began meditatiing and resloved to not move from there until he has achieved enlightenment.
While meditating under Bodh tree visions of power, affluence, opulent food and sexual fulfillment went past him, he remain unaffected by all these worldly desires. During that time he come to reliaze the a specific set of teachings, known as 'Four Noble Truth', these truth of life are as follows :
Dukha -All existence is suffering,
Avidya -The cause of suffering is ignorance
If there is suffering then there is a cure for it
The cure of these suffering lies in a set of teachings which constitutes of eight-fold path of beliefs which constitutes right speech, right aspirations, right conduct, right beliefs, right effort, right mindedness, right meditation and right mode of livelihood.
And hence began the journey of 'The Enlightened One', which will present Buddhism In India.
